Chairman’s report on the 2015 Annual General Meeting

Held at Imperial House, Clacton on Sea on 22nd April 2015, the Association’s 46th Annual General Meeting was attended by thirty members. The main formal part of the evening was a report by the Chairman of the events in which the Association had been involved during the preceding twelve months.

With a relatively small membership, he noted, the Association had nevertheless been very active, with members travelling to the two markets in Biberach, and the twinners’ market and French conversation course in Valence. It had also hosted guests from Biberach and Swidnica who had come to the CVST Christmas market, and organised the gift of books in the English language for the public library in Swidnica.

As an appendix to his report, Richard Polom gave a short talk about our new website and bravely gave a live demonstration of it.
The Treasurer gave a report on the Association’s finances and an update on progress towards purchasing a new van. This was followed by the election of officers for 2015-16.
The AGM was immediately followed by cheese and wine, and a music quiz devised by Richard Taylor. Encompassing music from many genres and periods, it had everyone saying words like ‘I know I know that piece…. but I just can’t remember who sang it.’ When the answers were finally given, cries of ‘of course it was’ could be heard around the room. Such is memory!
